Back To London by Rosemary Warmington

ARTIST NOTES: 'Back to London' is contemporary abstract cityscape with a beautiful blue background that shows the skyline. The Big Gherkin’ can be seen amongst the outline of other buildings against the sky.. Golden colours are suggestive of lights and trees, there is a hint of the River Thames, parks and playing spaces . It evokes my memories of London, as like many Aussies I lived in there for some time & consider it my second home. Varnished and framed in a natural wood frame, ready to hang.

Artist: Rosemary Warmington

Rosemary Warmington AM is a South Australian painter, born on the River Murray and raised in rural South Australia.  Today Rosemary lives in Goodwood, a suburb just south of the Adelaide CBD, where she paints from her home in her beautiful garden studio.

Rosemary’s  paints semi-abstract landscapes and more recently pure abstraction. Her contemporary paintings are drenched in colour, influenced by the natural world and the Australian light and landscape, in styles that reflect pure abstraction, abstract expressionism and traditional landscape.

Painting mainly with acrylic paints on canvas and board, Rosemary adds layers of paint and marks and surface scratching to create depth and texture in her works. Extensive travels in both Australia and overseas have also provided her with a rich source of inspiration.

Mostly self-taught,  Rosemary has experimented with a variety of styles and techniques as part of her ongoing process of her self discovery as an artist. In 2018, Rosemary completed  training through the Art to Life – Creative Visionary Program(USA) under the mentorship of Nicholas Wilton, Californian based international artist.

Rosemary’s first public exhibition was ‘The Flinders Revisited’ in 2011 SALA (South Australian Living Artists Festival), a selection of paintings that reflected the ancient Flinders Ranges. Further exhibitions followed in subsequent years and her work was featured in Art Edit Magazine (Spring 2019).

With tertiary qualifications in both social work and business, Rosemary was for many years a CEO of a not for profit organisation that provided services to family carers. In 2012 Rosemary was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her  contribution to the community.

In 2017 Rosemary retired from full-time employment

"I paint both intuitive contemporary landscapes and more recently have extended my style to pure abstract paintings.  In my landscapes I use rich colour blends to portray and reflect the natural world in a style that both combines abstract expressionim and traditional landscape painting. My aim is to evoke a mood and sense of place that transports the viewer to that 'other place' in their mind.

In my abstract paintings I use colour, line and texture in a design that comes authentically from within me to create a rich modern art piece.  "
